Winners have emerged at the 2022 PwC Media Excellence Awards – the seventh edition of the awards.
The PwC Media Excellence Awards celebrates and rewards excellence in business reporting in Nigeria. The competition is open to professional journalists on a full time employment or freelancers, working in Nigeria, who have produced a story that falls within the categories covered by the award and that is available on a platform whose primary audience is Nigeria.
Winners Of 2022 PwC Media Excellence Awards
- Odinaka Anudu, won the first position in the SME category, while Olugbenga Adanikin, The ICIR’s Head of Investigations, emerged second.
Anudu’s entry was titled: As Nigerian Government slumbers, ₦144 billion Aba shoe industry crawls, while Adanikin’s entry was titled: Sabon Gari: Despite multi-billion investment on solar project, SMEs spend over ₦36 million yearly on generators.
- Kunle Adebajo of HumAngle media won the Business and Economy Reporting category with his entry titled “Banking made easy … But not for people with disabilities in West Africa”. Ibrahim Adeyemi of the Foundation for Investigative Journalism Nigeria (FIJ) emerged second while James Ojo of The Cable emerged in third position.
- Tunde Ajaja of The Punch clinched first in the Tax Reporting category, and Collins Nweze of The Nation was a runner-up.
- Isaac Anyaogu of BusinessDay won the Finance & Capital Markets with his entry titled “Nigeria’s green bond is driving a quiet boom”. Reporting category. Ronald Adamolekun of Premium Times took the second position.
