World Record (WR) holder, Tobi Amusan secured her first Diamond League victory for 2023 winning the women’s 100 meters hurdles with a time of 12.52 seconds under wet conditions at the 2023 Stockholm Diamond League in Sweden.
She finished ahead of Sarah Lavin (12.73 seconds) and Pia Skrzyszowska (12.78 seconds).
A few days prior to the 2023 Stockholm Diamond League, she finished second to Olympic Champion Jasmine Camacho Quinn (12.40 seconds) in an equal Season’s Best (SB) of 12.47 seconds.
Over at Nembro, Ifeanyi Ojeli finished second in the men’s 400 meters with a new Personal Best (PB) of 45.63 seconds at the Meeting Internazionale Citta De Nembro in Italy. This is the fastest time he has raced since the Gaborone Invitational in 2019 when he broke 46 seconds for the first time in his career. South Africa’s Lythe Pillay won the competition with a time of 45.33 seconds.
At the Edmonton Invitational in Canada, Usheoritse Itsekiri dashed to a solid 10.21 seconds to win the men’s 100 meters while Edose Ibadin finished seventh in the men’s 800 meters with a time of 1:53.66s.
On the field, African Record Holder, Ese Brume placed fifth in the women’s Long Jump with a mark of 6.51 meters, behind eventual winner Larissa Iapichino (6.69 meters) and Malaika Mihambo (6.66 meters) at the Stockholm Diamond League.
