Team Nigeria has emerged winner of the 2023 African Under-21 Nations Volleyball Championship Zone 3 held in Niamey, Niger Republic.
Nigeria beat Ghana 3-0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-10) to lift the women’s trophy.
Following Team Nigeria’s victory on July 9, 2023 at the 2023 African Under-21 Nations Volleyball Championship Zone 3, Nigeria have now ended trophy drought at the under age level and also qualify for the world championship in Thailand.
Head coach of the under-21 women’s team, Rakiya Mohammed stated:
“I’m the happiest coach in the world today, because this is the first time Nigeria is winning a trophy at the underage championship.
The Ghanaians came all out and fought, but our girls have everything to win the tournament.
I told the girls to push harder, because the first game was difficult, so I knew they’ll be more dangerous and that’s exactly what happened.
I’m happy we were able to get the women’s qualification for the world championship in Thailand.”
