Students from Kosofe Senior College, representing Nigeria at the Junior Achievement Africa Company of the Year (COY) competition held at Kigali, Riwanda, have won two awards for their entrepreneurial excellence.
The students with the team name, ‘The Sustainable Future Advocate Company,’ creators of plantain peel briquette comprises; Fauzyhat Bello, Moses Ilori, Modinat Kareem, and Chinenye Nworie.
The team demonstrated their entrepreneurial excellence at the 13th Junior Achievement (JA) Africa Company of the Year (COY) Competition in Rwanda.
The Students got the Public Choice Award based on votes by well-meaning Nigerians and Africans, and the Delta Air Lines’ Social Impact Award.
This remarkable achievement not only speaks to the students’ dedication and innovative spirit but also underscores the positive impact of Junior Achievement Nigeria programs in nurturing the development of young entrepreneurial minds.
The competition featured participants from various countries, including Côte d’Ivoire, Eswatini, Ghana, Mauritius, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and the host country, Rwanda.
Commenting, the Acting Executive Director of Junior Achievement Nigeria, Olaolu Akogun said, the students were able to attain such feat due to partners’ immense contributions.
“The awards received are not solely a testament to the achievements of Team Nigeria. Instead, they signify the combined endeavours of the JA Nigeria community, supporters, and partners who consistently contribute to the empowerment and development of young entrepreneurs.”
He expressed gratitude and acknowledged First Bank Nigeria Limited, for sponsoring the National Company of the Year Program, extending their support to cover the travel expenses for the Nigerian Representatives.
