Rosemary Chukwuma has emerged winner of the 60 meters race event at the 2023 Texas Tech Open and Multis inside the Sports Performance Center.
Chukwuma ran a time of 7.09 seconds to win the 2023 Texas Tech Open and Multis on January 27, 2023 thereby breaking her school – Texas Tech University’s – record in the women’s 60m for the second time in 2023.
She had earlier run a time of 7.17 seconds to win the first round of the race to tie her third-best all-time mark for the school.
The time of 7.09 seconds, which won her the final round is now her school record, breaking her earlier record of 7.11 seconds last week and also running sub 8 seconds for the third time this week.
The time also ties Chukwuma third on the toplist with Poland’s Ewa Swoboda, with only Great Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith 7.04s and Saint Lucia’s Julien Afred running faster this season.
Kaila Jackson placed second, running a personal best (PB) of 7.16 seconds while Jadyn Mays was third in 7.19 seconds.
Also featuring for Texas Tech in the same women’s 60 meters, Mercy Umoibang ran a time of 7.57 seconds which was a PB in the preliminary round.
