Alex Ndubuisi Nwegbu Emerge President Of The Organization Of African Geological Surveys

Alex Ndubuisi Nwegbu, Director General of the Nigerian Geological Survey Agency (NGSA), has been elected and sworn in as President of the Organization of African Geological Surveys (OAGS) for the next three years.

OAGS started in South Africa ten years ago as an initiative of the New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD) through the African Mining Partnership (AMP).

Its mandate involves delivering on some strategic objectives, including capacity building for industry players, sharing knowledge, achieving financial stability, and constructive engagement with development partners towards effective utilization of African resources in order to develop the continent’s economy.

Lagos State Is Admitted Into World’s 100 Resilient Cities (2017)

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has received the Certificate of Admission of the State as one of the 100 Resilient Cities (100RC) in the world pioneered by the Rockefeller Foundation, saying that it was a starting point and a positive partnership that would help the State address the challenges of urban planning, transport gridlock, environment and modern infrastructure.

According to the Governor:

“Lagos is currently home to about 23 million inhabitants with an estimated 86 people moving into Lagos every hour. This creates challenges of managing a daily increase in human and vehicular movement.”

While alluding to the objective of his administration to make every community in Lagos economically liveable and stem rural-urban flight, the Governor assures that deliberate initiatives have been put in place to address the housing deficit, transport challenges and economic development, among others.

Professor Adesoji Adesugba Becomes Sigma Beta Delta Member

The California Southern University, USA has admitted a Nigerian, Professor Adesoji Adesugba into the Sigma Beta Delta International Honour Society in business, management and administration.

According to the President of the institution’s chapter of the organisation, Lauren Helms, “the admission of Adesugba into the Sigma Beta Delta is in recognition of his outstanding scholastic record. As President of the California Southern University Chapter of Sigma Beta Delta, it is my pleasure to extend you this membership invitation.”

Adesugba, who lectures at the Baden International Business School, Baden Switzerland is said to have impressed the university authorities by scoring an ‘A’ in every course and making a perfect 4.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) in his Doctor of Business Administration coursework at the university.

As a Sigma Beta Delta member, he joins a prestigious group of academic and business leaders dedicated to the continual pursuit of meaningful aspirations. Sigma Beta Delta membership conveys academic excellence and a commitment to high principles and superior achievement and is only given to doctoral candidates who have scored 3.95 GPA or better.

Professor Adesoji Adesugba has an impressive background having previously worked with the Federal Government of Nigeria in various capacities, including as a director at the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) and later as the Chairman of the Industrial Arbitration Panel (IAP).

In 2015, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Editorial Board of the popular Nigerian newspaper Sahel Standard. He is currently the President of the Gemstones Miners and Marketers Association of Nigeria, as well as a Vice-President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
