Khadijat Mohammed and Joseph Jimoh have won the boys and girls open titles at the 2023 Fusion Sports Foundation Tennis Clinic (fourth edition).
Khadijat Mohammed defeated Sofia Agabiaka in two straight sets 6-0, 6-1 while the keenly contested boys’ final went into the decider after Joseph Jimoh came back from a set down to beat Daniel Adeleye 0-6, 6-3, 10-8.
The week-long tournament, which had over 200 kids from ages 4-16 in attendance, was held at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan and is aimed at talent discovery and enhancing tennis development at the grassroots level.
Speaking at the end of the 2023 Fusion Sports Foundation Tennis Clinic event, former national junior champion and CEO, Fusion Sports Foundation, Fuad Quadre, expressed satisfaction with the level of participation and performance of the players.
“I’m very happy with the turnout and we tennissaw some interesting matches and we were able to select some players that we will sponsor through the year.”
