Kada Stars and Delta Queens have emerged winners of the 2022 Nigeria Hockey Federation (NHF) Super League Title in the male and female categories respectively.
The Kada Stars beat Police Machine 2-1 in their last match of the competition played at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
The Kada Stars and Police Machine will now represent Nigeria at the Africa Cup for Club Champions (ACCC) in February in South Africa.
Delta Queens of Asaba on July 2, 2022 defeated Kada Queens of Kaduna 1-0 to win the women’s title of the 2022 Nigeria Hockey Federation (NHF) Super League.
The Delta Queens won the top place match to round off their competition at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
In the female category of the Super League, the Delta Queens and Kada Queens will also represent Nigeria at the ACCC.
Speaking after the match, Ade Jacobs, the head coach of Delta Queens and Delta Force hockey teams, said he was proud of the women’s team for performing tremendously in this competition.
“We have continued to maintain our winning streak from day one till the last day. We lost one and won five matches for 15 points to lead the table.”
In one of the other women’s classification matches played, Yobe Queens beat Plateau Queens 2-0 to finish third in place. The team also beat Benue Amazons 1-0 to take fifth place in the women’s category.
In the men’s classification matches played, Delta Force lost to Niger Flickers 0-3 to finish fourth and for Niger Flickers to take third place. While Stallions of Lagos beat Yobe Desert Rollers 3-2 to finish fifth.
A total of 15 teams participated in the Super League, with seven teams in the women’s event and eight in the men’s competition.
