Joshua Caleb has set an African record of clocking a time of 6.57 seconds in the 60 meters race event at the 2025 Nevada Silver And Blue Invitational.
He equals Consider Ekanem’s World Lead (WL) and broke the African under-20 record of 6.58 seconds set by Ibrahim Meite in 1994.
He also surpassed the Nigerian under-20 record of 6.66 seconds, held by Taiwo Ajibade since 2002.
This achievement improved upon Caleb’s personal best of 6.68 seconds, set earlier in the day during the preliminary rounds. He went on to win the final by a convincing margin of 0.17 seconds over Ajani Ince of the Academy of Art.
In the 2023-24 season, Caleb Joshua represented Nigeria in the 400 meters at the under-20 World Championships in Peru.
He also had a standout freshman year at the University of Alaska Anchorage, earning multiple honors, including: GNAC Freshman of the Year for both indoor and outdoor season, All-American honors in the 60 meters, 200 meters, and 400 meters events multiple school, meet, and GNAC records in the 60 meters, 100 meters, 200 meters, and 400 meters events and GNAC championships in the 100 meters and 200 meters events.
These remarkable performances has earned the youngster top rankings in several categories: Number 1 in Division II this season, tied for Number 4 performer in Division II history, tied for Number 6 performer in World under-20 history, and tied for Number 12 on the Nigeria all-time performer list.
