Five other schools that reached the last eight received consolation prizes.

Additionally, 18 students from six geo-political zones received ₦100,000 each.

The tournament attracted over 3,000 students from 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, while a professional development training session: ‘From classroom to career: How mathematics shapes your future,’ was also led by Data Engineer, Jessica Ogwu.

President Maths4Life, Omoniyi Osuntuyi, stated:

“Over 100 million has been given in the last decade to students, over 10,000 artisans have also been trained, and also lecture students having challenges in mathematics.

We teach and give them the opportunity to know mathematics, though some people say it’s hard, but at the same time, we’re trying to bring it down to their level so that they can understand how to solve equations and give solutions to mathematical problems.

This year’s event is particularly special as we celebrate our decade-long commitment to mathematics education alongside the finals of the 2025 National Mathematics Tournament. The initial round of the tournament was conducted virtually on Saturday, February 1, 2025, attracting over 3,000 students from all 36 states in Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory. We also awarded cash prizes of ₦100,000 each to the top three students from six regions, totalling 18 outstanding students.”

Osuntuyi thanked both corporate and individual sponsors, and global volunteers for their support.

Adoga, who has won over 14 awards, said considering his good background in mathematics, the competition was about speed and accuracy.
