Godson Oke Oghenebrume has emerged winner of the men’s 100 meters race event at the 2023 LSU Alumni Gold in Baton Rouge clocking a time of 9.97 seconds (2.3).
Dipping under 10 seconds for the first time in his career at the 2023 LSU Alumni Gold, Godson Oke Oghenebrume won ahead of Da’Marcus Fleming in 10.06 seconds and Hakim Sani Brown in 10.13 seconds.
Although the wind was just over the allowable limit of 2.0m/s, he is only the second man to go under 10 seconds in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) this year, beating World Silver medallist Marvin Bracy who ran 10.26 seconds in the process.
His time is also the second fastest time ever in LSU history behind Richard Thompson and ahead of Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake who are both Olympic medallists, and the second fastest time in the NCAA this year.
