The Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN) of Ibadan has emerged the overall winner of the 2022 RIGAN Games (Research Institute Games Association of Nigeria).
The Games were held at the Area 10 Parade Ground in Garki and Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
The 2022 RIGAN Games featured 998 participants from 22 research institutes.
RIGAN president, Professor Feranmi Owolade, told reporters that while RMRDC won gold in the finals of the football match, the Ibadan-based FRIN for the second time emerged the overall winner with 20 gold, 16 silver and 16 bronze.
The Nigerian Veterinary Research Institute (NVRI), in Vom near Jos, finished second with 12 gold, 26 silver and 10 bronze while the Institute of Agricultural Research and Training/Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) came third with 12 gold, 5 silver and 7 bronze.
The maiden edition of the games took place at Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria in 1982.
