Favour Ofili Sets New Records In 200 Meters Race Event At 2023 NCAA Indoor Championships

Favour Ofili has set new records in the 200 meters race event at the 2023 NCAA Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

She ran 22.11 seconds to win her heat, setting a new Personal Best (PB), School Record, NCAA Lead, Championship Record and World Lead in the process. She also becomes the 4th fastest woman to ever run the 200 meters indoors and will have her sights on the NCAA Record of 22.09 seconds set by Abby Steiner last season.

She entered for three events; 60 meters, 200 meters and 4×400 meters at the 2023 NCAA Indoor Championships – qualifying for the final of the women’s 60 meters, storming to a new Personal Best (PB) of 7.14 seconds.

Her compatriot Rosemary Chukwuma who was running in the lane next to hers, finished 5th in 7.23 seconds while Julien Alfred won what was a record-breaking race in a new NCAA Record of 6.96 seconds.

Meanwhile, Rosemary Chukwuma just missed out on a spot in the finals of the 200 meters with her 22.80 seconds to finish 3rd in hear heat while Ezinne Abba ran 23.27 seconds.
