Oshoala Asisat Wins 2019 CAF African Women’s Best Player Award

Nigeria and Barcelona forward Oshoala Asisat has won the 2019 African Women’s Player of the Year at the CAF Awards in a ceremony held on the 7th of January 2020 in Hurghada, Egypt.

In walking to the winners’ podium, Oshoala Asisat dethroned 2018 winner South Africa forward Thembi Kgatlana and Cameroon’s Ajara Nchout, who were also up for the award.

It was the fourth time for Oshoala Asisat to be named Africa’s best women’s player and she has now equalled compatriot Perpetua Nkwocha, who also won the same award on four occasions before.

After winning the 2014, 2016 and 2017 awards, Oshoala Asisat reclaimed the prestigious crown for women’s football in Africa.

FRIN Ibadan Win 16th RIGAN Games

The Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN) Ibadan has emerged the overall champions of the 16th RIGAN Games with 20 Gold, 21 Silver and 22 Bronze medals.

The 16th RIGAN Games held at Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute in Sango-Ota, Ogun State had 20 Institutes who battled for honours during the 10-day competition.

FRIN defeated Federal Institute of Industrial Research, Oshodi by a lone goal.

Marylove Edwards And Canice Abua Win NTF International Junior Championship

Marylove Edwards and Canice Abua have emerged winners of the first leg of the NTF International Junior Championship held in Abuja.

In the ladies singles, top seed, Marylove Edwards overcame Blanche Minet of Ivory Coast 7-5, 3-6, 6-1 to win the girls’ title while Canice Abua edged Musa Mohammed 7-6, 6-3 in an all-Nigeria affair to claim the boys’ title.

Sadjo Samuel And Rose Akuso Win Inaugural Ikogosi 10 Kilometers Marathon Race

Sadjo Samuel and Rose Akuso have emerged overall winners of the inaugural Ikogosi 10 kilometers marathon race.

Sadjo Samuel beat no fewer than 1,999 other athletes to the finish line in in 30 minutes 40 seconds to win the one million Naira cash prize.

Shehu Muazu emerged with a second place finish in 31 minutes 22 seconds and received a cash prize of 500,000 Naira.

Oyebode Dada Samuel came third at 31 minutes 48 seconds and received a cash prize of 300,000 Naira.

Winners Of 2019 Chief Of Naval Staff Under-14 Boys And Under-17 Girls Football Competition

Ekiti and Kwara states have won the 2019 Chief of Naval Staff Under-14 boys and Under-17 girls football competition held at the Liberty Stadium, Ibadan.

In entertaining finals, Ekiti state defeated Kwara state 1-0 to emerge winners in the boy’s category, while Kwara state got a redemption through their girls, who recorded a 5-3 penalty victory over Rivers State after their game had ended 1-1 at regulation time.
