Nigeria Wins 12 Medals At Para Powerlifting 2022 African Open Championships

Nigeria has won a total of twelve medals comprising nine gold and three silver at the Para Powerlifting 2022 African Open Championships in Cairo, Egypt.

At the end of the four-day event on 30 October 2022 held at the Dr. Hassan Moustafa Sports Hall, the Nigerian para powerlifters created three world records and two African records.

Tobi Amusan has become the first Nigerian athlete in history, to be nominated for the World Athletics 2022 Athlete of the Year of Award.

The 25 year old’s name was among the 10 women athletes released on 12 October 2022 by World Athletics as nominees for the Women’s World Athlete of the Year 2022 award.

Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Football Team Wins 2022 Ships And Ports Maritime Cup Competition

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) football team has emerged winner of the 2022 Ships and Ports Maritime Cup Competition held on 28 October 2022.

The NPA defeated the Nigerian Navy team by a lone goal in the final event.

This is the second time the NPA team would lift the Maritime Cup. The team first won the trophy in 2018.

Nigeria’s Flamingos have qualified for its first-ever semifinals at the 2022 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup in India after defeating USA in the quarter-finals.

The team is also the first African team to reach the semifinals of the FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup.

Nigeria’s Flamingos defeated USA on penalties on October 21, 2022 and would play against Colombia in the semifinals on October 26, 2022.

The Health education undergraduate student of University of Lagos (UNILAG) is crowned the 14th Africa Scrabble Champion, after defeating Wellington Jighere.

He won 24 games and drew 1.
