Senior African Wrestling Championships 2017
Nigeria’s contingent to the Senior African Wrestling Championships 2017 has won eight gold and two silver medals held at Marrakech, Morocco.
Odunayo Adekuoroye’s victory in the 55 kg, Blessing Oborududu (63 kg), Mercy Genesis (48 kg), Aminat Adeniyi (58 kg), Kemeasuodei Dressman (69 kg) and Gofit Winnie (75 kg) ensured that the nation won six gold medals in the female freestyle.
In the freestyle men’s cadre, Soso Tamarau in 97 kg and Ogbonna Emmanuel John (70 kg) clinched gold medals.
Deborah Fari Wins 2017 Okpekpe International Road Race
Deborah Fari representing Plateau State, came first with a record time of 38 mins 15 seconds in the Nigerian category of the 10-kilometre 2017 Okpekpe International Road Race in Edo State, Etsako East Local Council, South-South Nigeria.
Elizabeth Fawa representing Nasarawa State came second in 38 minutes 41 seconds, while Rose Akesho, also from Plateau state came third after finishing in 38 minutes 55 seconds.

Lagos State Wins 2017 Asaph Zadok National Scrabble Championship
Team Lagos has emerged the best state at the 2017 Asaph Zadok National Scrabble Championship held in Abuja.
Team Lagos retained the title, after five out of their six players emerged as the top six on the scores table.
With the victory, Lagos won a trophy and a cash prize of 100,000 Naira.
Delta and Akwa Ibom came second and third best respectively.
Dipo Akanbi, representing Lagos State, emerged the 2017 individual champion after winning 18 games with an aggregate of +743.
Akanbi, with the victory, earned a trophy and a cash prize of 150,000 Naira
Dayo Tayo, also of Lagos State, came second with 16.5 wins and +346 aggregate and a cash prize of 100,000 Naira.
Moses Peter of Akwa Ibom came third with 16 wins and a +1351 aggregate, for a cash prize of 50,000 Naira.
Olatunde Oduwole, the 2016 national champion and Lagos representative, came fourth with 16 wins and +764 aggregate.
