University Of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) Wins 2022 Nigerian Genius Engineering Competition

University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) has emerged winner of the 2022 Nigerian Genius Engineering Competition – receiving a cash prize of one million Naira.

Team UNN (Benstowe Destiny, Uzodinma Somto, David Okenwa) designed and built a Portable Water-Powered Electricity Generator that can be installed in every home with an overhead water tank.

It also includes an Energy Management System, which monitors and displays power generation, consumption and reserve.

Forty-five (45) tertiary institutions were shortlisted for the competition and egineering students representing four (4) tertiary institutions in Nigeria competed in the finals of the competition in Aba.

Ifeoma Uddoh has emerged winner of the inaugural SelectUSA Tech Nigeria Pitch Competition; a United States government program led by the U.S. Department of Commerce that supports international business expansion to the United States.

Ifeoma Uddoh, a 2021 alumna of the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs is the founder of Shecluded, a fintech start-up dedicated to bridging the financial inclusion gap among women of colour.

Team Stemlab Wins FSI/FUTMinna Innovation Challenge 2022

Team Stemlab has emerged winner of the FSI/FUTMinna Innovation Challenge 2022 tagged ‘IncludeMe virtual Hackathon competition’ held on April 12, 2022.

Team Stemlab won with its innovative app, Maaji, an online and offline mobile payment platform in the Hausa language aimed at financial inclusion for both the banked and unbanked Nigerians.

Team Stemlab defeated nine other contestants to emerge victorious, receiving a grand prize of ₦1.5 million while the 1st runner-up, Team Rocket, received ₦1 million and Team EarNest came third, earning ₦500,000.

Two Nigerian teams have emerged winners of the grand prizes in the Network and Cloud tracks of the 2022 Huawei ICT Regional Competition.

The University of Port Harcourt team comprising of Udochi Danielle, Ushuta Anthony and Adebayo S. Oluwafemi won in the Networking category.

Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria’s team comprising of Micah B. Shallom, Yunus Abdullahi and Aliyu Isah won the Cloud category.

For the Innovation track, Amadu Bello University took the third place.
