Khalilullah Ejalonibu Wins 2018 Antibiotics Awareness Spelling Bee & Essay Competition

Khalilullah Ejalonibu of Excellent Kiddies Montessori Academy has won the 2018 Antibiotics Awareness Spelling Bee and Essay Competition for Junior Secondary Schools in Abuja.

It is the first Antibiotics Awareness Spelling Bee Competition in Nigeria with a focus on the issues of self-medication and anti-microbial resistance for Junior Secondary Schools in Nigeria.

The students were well-prepared and provided useful suggestions through the aspect of the essay competition on how to engage the Nigerian community to use Antibiotics properly.

Russell Oasah & Charles Umeh Emerge Winners At The 2018 Youth Connekt Africa Summit

Russell Oasah and Charles Umeh have emerged among the best innovators at the 2018 Youth Connekt Africa Summit in Kigali winning the Digital Inclusion Award with a $10,000 reward.

The Nigerians received 50% ($10,000) of the 4 winners of this year’s innovation projects, out of 18 competitive final projects submitted at the summit.

The competitors came from Rwanda, Kenya, Mozambique, Angola and Nigeria.

The summit was held under the theme; “Connekting Youth for Continental Transformation”.

Naomi Uwem Emerge 2017/2018 Nigerian Law School Best Graduating Student

Naomi Uwem, a graduate of Afe Babalola University (ABUAD) graduates as the 2017/2018 best student from the Nigerian Law School (NLS) winning thirteen (13) awards for her achievement at the prestigious school.

She graduated as the best out of the 161 students who bagged First Class degrees; and received 13 awards during her Call to Bar ceremony.

Ubon James Wins 2018 NCDMB Essay Competition

Ubon James has emerged the winner of the second edition of the annual national oil and gas essay competition organised by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB).

Ubon James is a first year student of Electronics and Computer Technology at the University of Calabar, Cross River State.

The essay submitted by the 27-year-old was adjudged the best amongst over 3000 entries contributed by first and second year students from universities across the country.

He was rewarded with a cash prize of 500,000, a laptop and a plaque.

The essay topic of the competition was titled: “Harnessing Local Content Potentials in the Oil And Gas Industry For Nigeria’s Industrial and Economic Development.”

Odjegba Divine Omesiri Wins 2018 UBA Foundation National Essay Competition

14–year-old Odjegba Divine Omesiri has emerged the overall winner of the 2018 UBA Foundation National Essay Competition at the grand finale, which was held at the UBA House, Marina Lagos.

Odjegba Divine Omesiri, a student of The International High School, Delta State, won over 11 other finalists selected from over 6,000 entries received by the UBA Foundation from students of senior secondary schools across Nigeria.

Miss Odjegba Divine Omesiri is rewarded with a laptop as well as an educational grant worth 2 million to study in any African university of her choice.

The second prize was won by Ozemoka Halimat Emesomi, aged 15, of University Preparatory Secondary School, Edo State, who won a 1.5 million educational grant and a laptop, while the third prize of 1 million educational grant and a laptop went to Adiankpo Ini-Iso Christopher, 16 years old of the Nigerian Christian Institute Akwa Ibom State. The other 9 finalists all received laptops.

This year’s edition of the competition expected eligible secondary students to send in handwritten entries on the topic: What is the biggest environmental issue you think your generation will face? How can it be avoided and how can it be solved?”

The UBA Foundation National Essay competition aims to provide a competitive platform to develop the intellectual and writing abilities of senior secondary school students in Nigeria. Winners get educational grants to study in any African University of their choice. The competition has been held annually since 2011 with students challenged to write on different engaging topics to test their writing and cognitive skills.

Abiodun Okunade, Yetunde Akinbola & Comfort Tayo Win 2018 LAUTECH Innovation Challenge

Impact Team comprising of Abiodun Okunade, Yetunde Akinbola and Comfort Tayo – all final year Computer Science and Engineering students of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State, have won the maiden edition of the LAUTECH Innovation Challenge (LIC) held on the main campus of the school.

The 3-female Team won 1 million Naira seed investment fund, after they emerged the best team after competing with 29 others to win the prize.

The work of Team Impact is to reduce the learning difficulties faced by children with Down Syndrome. Before winning LAUTECH Innovation Challenge (LIC), the Team had made 50 animations for a child with Down Syndrome and discovered the innovation could be extended to others.

Isabelle Gelegu Awarded WAEC Overall Best Student In 2017

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has awarded 18 years old, Miss Isabelle Gelegu as the overall best student in 2017.

Isabelle Gelegu, who was a student of Oritamefa Baptist Model School Ibadan scored distinctions in all the subjects she sat for to receive the 1st prize of National Distinction/Merit Award 2017.
