Team Banga from Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) has emerged the overall winner of the 2018 Unilever Nigeria Ideatrophy Challenge.
The initiative, which is in line with the company’s quest to groom young talents in Nigeria and Ghana along the lines of personal, leadership and entrepreneurial competences, last year accommodated undergraduates from both countries at the 6th edition held in Lagos.
The Unilever Nigeria Ideatrophy Challenge, a development initiative designed to create an ‘out-of-the-classroom’ learning experience for undergraduate students had as its theme for this year’s edition: “Freedom to Explore, Freedom to Experience, Freedom to Grow” – with the students expected to come up with unique ideas based on the years’ theme.

Professor Olufemi Obafemi Receives 2018 Nigerian National Order Merit (NNOM) Award
Professor Olufemi Obafemi has been conferred with the 2018 Nigerian National Order Merit (NNOM) Award by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Professor Olufemi Obafemi, who is the President, Nigerian Academy of Letters (NAL) and currently, the National Chairman of the Nigerian Reproduction Rights Society of Nigeria (REPRONIG), has been a Professor of English and Dramatic Literature at the University of Ilorin since October 1st, 1990.
Chairman, Governing Board of the Nigerian National Merit Award (NNMA), Professor Shekarau Yakubu Aku, said that out of about 35 nominations, only Professor Obafemi met all the criteria set out for the award – being the 76th recipient.

Morayo Ajetumobi Wins The 2018 National Youth Speaking And Leadership Competition (NYSLC)
Morayo Ajetumobi, a student of Greensprings School, Lekki Campus has emerged the winner of the 2018 National Youth Speaking and Leadership Competition (NYSLC) for Secondary Schools and Sixth Form Colleges held at Oxbridge Tutorial College, Ikeja, Lagos.
She received a cash prize of 50,000 Naira.
According to her, she had no idea of the topic until the day before, but had no choice but to prepare for it, despite having series of tests in school.
In the words of Morayo Ajetumobi:
“I am extremely happy. I will definitely prepare better for my next speaking competition, because I am sure I can do even better.”

Munachimso Onuoha has emerged the overall winner of the Best Minds Competition 2018 organised by Elsie Abimbola Fernandez Foundation with the finale held at Multi Plan Pathway College, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Mr. Munachimso Onuoha, a Senior Secondary student of Whitesands School received a ₦2 million cash prize donated by Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc. He also received a ₦100,000 gift voucher from Ebeano Stores to buy any item of his choice.

Winners Of PZ Cussons 2018 Chemistry Challenge Competition
Winners have emerged in the PZ Cussons 2018 Chemistry Challenge competition at its head office in Lagos.
Tadese Fatai, the overall winner was awarded the grand prize of ₦1 million, a trophy and a gold medal. His Chemistry teacher received ₦250,000 and a plaque. PZ Cussons also equipped the Chemistry laboratory of the winning school Abibat Mogaji Millennium Secondary School with premium equipment.
Adegoke Pelumi, New Hall International School, who emerged first runner-up was presented with a cheque of ₦750,000 and a silver medal.
Second runner-up, Iwuala Chibuzor, also of Abibat Millennium Senior Secondary School, Agege got ₦500,000 and a bronze medal.
