Peter Seunara Arotiba Emerges Best Overall WASSCE Candidate In West Africa [May/June 2018]

17-year-old former student of Nigerian Airforce Secondary School, Ikeja, Lagos, Peter Seunara Arotiba, has emerged the best overall candidate in the May/June 2018 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in West Africa.

Peter Seunara Arotiba emerged the best candidate in the West African sub-region with eight A1s in the May/June 2018 WASSCE, beating over 1.9 million candidates that sat for the examination.

In the May/ June 2018 WASSCE, Peter Seunara Arotiba with examination number 4251112045, obtained A1 in eight subjects, which are Economics A1, Civic Education A1, Tourism A1, English Language A1, Mathematics A1, Biology A1, Chemistry A1 and Physics A1.

The second and third positions went to two Ghanaian students, Wilhermina Opoku (2nd) and Brago Afrifa, (3rd).

Enwere-Kingsley Ikenna Wins 16th Annual National Mathematics Competition (ANMC)

9-year-old Enwere-Kingsley Ikenna of Cuddy Kids School, Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos has emerged overall winner of the 16th Annual National Mathematics Competition (ANMC).

Enwere-Kingsley Ikenna won gold medal, scoring 98.85 percent to defeat 39,518 candidates who participated in the competition in the 36 states of the Federation, including the Federal Capital Territory.

The competition, organised by National Mathematical Centre and Nigeria Tulip International Colleges (NTIC) Abuja, was to reward hard work for pupils who devoted time to surmount the phobia associated with mathematics.

Ayo Dada & Olamide Oladeji Emerge Stanford University’s 2019 Knight-Hennessy Scholars

Ayo Dada and Olamide Oladeji were among the 69 scholars that won the Knight-Hennessy scholarship at Stanford University for the year 2019.

The Knight-Hennessy scholarship is poised to develop both the depth and range of subject expertise to confront the numerous grand challenges and opportunities of the future. Knight-Hennessy Scholars receive full funding to pursue graduate study at Stanford. Ayo Dada and Olamide Oladeji both join Solomon Oyakhire, an alumnus of the University of Lagos, who was the only Nigerian recipient of the scholarship in the first edition in 2018 and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in chemical engineering at Stanford School of Engineering.

SPE FUTO Wins 2019 PetroQuiz Competition

Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) Chapter emerge winners of the 2019 PetroQuiz competition at the students technical symposium and exhibition (sTsE 2019).

From 17 points down, SPE FUTO undertook an impressive come back to win SPE University of Uyo 55:36.

SPE FUTO Chapter emerged victorious in this competition after 17 trials and have clinched a ticket to Canada for further stages of the Petro competition.

Bala Magaji Emerge NOUN Best Graduating Student [2018/2019]

45-year-old Bala Magaji, have graduated with a degree in Islamic Studies, emerging as the best graduating student of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) for the 2018/2019 academic year.

Mr. Bala Magaji, who was showered with praises at the 8th convocation ceremony of the university in Abuja said a university degree is not cheap or easy but can open doors to great benefits.

Mr. Magaji recorded a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.8.

Winners Of 2019 Rotary Spelling Bee Competition

Winners have emerged in the yearly Spelling Bee Competition held by Rotary International District 9110. They are Miss Nicole Okpala of Mayors Heights College, first position; Daniella Moseri, also of Mayors Heights College, second position and Ibrahim Olapade of Oregun Senior High School, Ikeja, Lagos, who came third.

Eight schools competed in the over one hour event. They were represented by two pupils each. Besides Mayors Heights College and Oregun Senior High School, the other schools were Command Day Secondary School, Ikeja, Charles Lorie French College, Eko Akete Senior Grammar School, Olomu High School, David Hall School, and Oxbridge Tutorial College. The pupils answered over 100 questions drawn from several subjects in the spelling competition.
