Christiana Obafemi Wins 2018 9Mobile Photography Competition

For the 2018 edition of the 9Mobile Photography Competition, with the theme, “9ja: My Grind, My Hustle”, Christiana Obafemi has emerged as the winner with her image titled, “My Passion, My Strength.”

At the prize presentation, which was held recently at Banana Island, Ikoyi, Christiana Obafemi receives a canon camera for her emergence at the prize presentation ceremony in Ikoyi, Lagos.

Bambi Daniel and Ayodeji Ogunro emerged as first and second runners-up with their images titled; “Female Barber” and “The Wind” respectively.

The winner of the ‘Voters’ Choice’ category is David Gideon, for his work titled; “A Woman.” The ‘Voters’ Choice’ category was selected through a two-week online public vote which was opened to photography enthusiasts from November 5 to 19, 2018.

Femi Odugbemi Awarded Lifetime Achievement Award By Nigerian Film Corporation

Femi Odugbemi has been honoured with the Lifetime Achievement award by the Nigerian Film Corporation under the auspices of Nigeria Film Society.

Professor Tanure Ojaide Emerge Joint Winner Of 2018 Wole Soyinka Prize For Literature

Professor Tanure Ojaide and Uganda’s Harriet Arena have been announced as the joint winners of 2018 Wole Soyinka Prize for Literature.

Servio Gbadamosi, a doctoral candidate in the cultural and media studies program at the Institute of African Studies, University of Ibadan, was the runner-up. He was shortlisted for his ‘A Tributary in Servitude’.

The winners were announced at a ceremony held at the Muson Center, Onikan, Lagos.

Winners Of 2018 Wole Soyinka Award For Investigative Reporting (WSAIR)

Winners have emerged at the 13th edition of the Wole Soyinka Award for Investigative Reporting (WSAIR) held at NECA House, Alausa, Lagos.

The Wole Soyinka Award For Investigative Reporting (WSAIR), organised by the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ), is held annually in commemoration of December 9 – the World Anticorruption Day and eve of the Human Rights Day – to call attention to the significance of the media generally and investigative reporting in particular, to attaining good governance, accountability and social justice.

The winners, runners-up and commended works got cash prizes of 200,000, 100,000 and 50,000 respectively, plus a certificate of commendation. In addition, winners got award plaques, and will proceed on an all-expense-paid international study tour in 2019.

Winners Of Akwa Ibom State Council Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Awards 2018

Winners have emerged at the Akwa Ibom State Council Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Awards 2018 held in Uyo where prizes were given out to journalists for their professional works for the year 2018.

Cletus Ukpong, an assistant editor with PREMIUM TIMES who covers Nigeria’s South-south for the newspaper, won the Major Alexander Akpabio Ukut’s Investigative Reporter/Journalist of the Year for his investigative series on the decay of public schools in Akwa Ibom State.

He received a plaque, cash, and a gift from the NUJ.

Chinua Ezenwa-Ohaeto Wins New Hampshire Institute Of Art 2018 Writing Award

Chinua Ezenwa-Ohaeto, has won the New Hampshire Institute of Art 2018 Writing Award: Narratives in Prose, Poetry.

As the winner, Mr. Chinua Ezenwa-Ohaeto wins a $100 prize money and and $5,000 worth of scholarship to study MFA in New Hampshire.

The NHIA writing programme is centred on the idea of deeply examining stories that effectively communicate an idea in any genre.

Chinua Ezenwa-Ohaeto Wins 2018 Castillo di Duino Poesia Prize

Chinua Ezenwa-Ohaeto has been declared the overall first winner in the 2018 Castillo di Duino Poesia Prize, Italy with a reward of €500.

He became the 14th edition winner in the competition with his poem titled “My Home: May a Dawn bring a new Smile upon it” that involved 16 contestants from different parts of the world.

He graduated from the department of English language, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State.
