Peter Nkanga Wins 2019 Jamal Khashoggi Award For Courageous Journalism [Nigeria]

Peter Nkanga has been selected for the 2019 Jamal Khashoggi Award for Courageous Journalism in Nigeria by Inti Raymi Fund.

In a letter signed by Anas Talalqa, Human Rights Advisor at Inti Raymi Fund, congratulating Mr. Peter Nkanga:

“The Award honors the brave journalists who expose abuse of power and corruption, share difficult truths, discuss taboo topics, and work in hostile environments. For true democracy to work, there must be a free press.”

Abdul-Qudus Ibrahim Wins 2018 Beeta Playwright Competition

Abdul-Qudus Ibrahim has emerged the overall winner of the 2018 Beeta Playwright Competition with his winning play titled: “Jagagba”.

Out of 348 entries and 10 finalists, Abdul-Qudus Ibrahim was selected and receives a reward of 1 million cash prize.

The grand finale of the second edition of Beeta Playwright Competition held on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at the MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos.

Winners Of 2019 Youth Digest Campus Journalism Awards

Winners have emerged at the 2019 Youth Digest Campus Journalism Awards organised to celebrate campus journalists across Nigeria.

The second edition of the awards, which received 241 entries out of which 30 finalists emerged, was organised by Youth Digest magazine in partnership with CISLAC and supported by Global Affairs Canada (GAC).

University of Lagos (UNILAG) becomes the first Nigerian campus to own a television station when UNILAG TV commenced airing operation on the 17th of January, 2019. The same university pioneered campus radio broadcast with Radio Unilag 103.1 FM in December 2004.

Artistry Media Wins $5,000 Grant From Lagos Film Academy

Artistry Media, which consists of Baridakara Nwilene, Alfa Faruk Umar and Joshua Tostso, has won a $5,000 film project grant from the Lagos Film Academy.

The three young and aspiring filmmakers were selected by the Lagos Film Academy for the grant in the third Film for Life competition.

The three members of Artistry Media will have the opportunity to make a short film directed at impacting social change with focus on the upcoming 2019 general elections in Nigeria.
