IBI (The Birth), Nimbe, Dear Bayo And Unseen Treasure Win 2019 UK Nollywood Film Festival (UKNFF) Awards

Nigerian movies: IBI (The Birth), Nimbe, Dear Bayo and Unseen Treasure, have been adjudged the best films in the United Kingdom (UK) at the 2019 UK Nollywood Film Festival (UKNFF), organized by the UK Nollywood Producers Guild.

A statement signed and issued on the 13th of October 2019 by Mr. Malcolm Benson, President, UK Nollywood Producers Guild, stated that IBI (The Birth) was adjudged the Best Indigenous (Native language) Feature Film, it also emerged Best Feature Film 2019.

Dear Bayo, won the Jury’s award, as the Unseen Treasure, emerged the best in Best Short film category, while Diced was declared the best script.

Augustina Armstrong-Ogbonna Wins 2019 Anna Politkovskaya Media Award

Augustina Armstrong-Ogbonna has won the 2019 Anna Politkovskaya media award for several of her publications on environmental issues.

Nigerian journalist, Augustina Armstrong-Ogbonna, has earned a spot as one of the most courageous women whose passion has led her to report stories that impact and demand change as it affects the lower class people of the society.

Augustina was on October 4 [2019] recognised for her courage and passion in Italy as she was awarded the prestigious Anna Politkovskaya award in recognition of her great work.

Winners Of 2019 PwC Media Excellence Awards

Winners have emerged at the 2019 PwC Media Excellence Awards.

The PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Media Excellence Awards celebrates and rewards excellence in business reporting in Nigeria. The competition is open to professional journalists on a full time employment or freelancers, working in Nigeria, who have produced a story that falls within the categories covered by the award and that is available on a platform whose primary audience is Nigeria.

The journalists selected in each category by the panel of judges are named the Journalist of the year in that category and receive a cash prize of 500,000 Naira.

Amali Mucheke Wins 2019 Historical Association’s Historical Fiction Prize

Amali Mucheke, a Year 7 pupil of Lagos Preparatory & Secondary School (LPSS) has won the London-based Historical Association’s fiction prize with her entry titled, “Freedom for all”.

The story, which was based around colonial Nigeria, won Amali Mucheke the much-coveted prize for her category.

Amali’s entry was sent to London alongside two others from the school, which are Bethany Okeowo’s, “The maid’s moment” and Kitan Fagbamigbe’s “The queen, the candle and the golden mirror,” and she emerged the winner from all the entries submitted by students from across the world.

NERC Wins 2019 National Freedom Of Information (FOI) Compliance Ranking

The Nigerian Electricity Regulation Commission (NERC) has emerged as the winner of the 2019 National Freedom of Information (FOI) Compliance Ranking in an event held at the CBN International Training Institute, Abuja on September 26, 2019.

Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC), Nigeria Investment Promotion Commission emerged second and third respectively.

Nkoli Omhoudu And Isaac Anyaogu Win 2019 Nigerian Academy Of Science (NAS) Media Award

Mrs. Nkoli Omhoudu of African Independent Television (AIT) and Mr. Isaac Anyaogu of BusinessDay Newspaper have won the 2019 Nigerian Academy of Science (NAS) Media award organised by NAS in partnership with Vitafoam Nigeria Plc.

Mrs. Nkoli Omhoudu won the Science Journalist of the year award for broadcast category with her story titled “Rhesus Disease: Babies Silent Killer” while Mr. Isaac Anyaogu emerged winner of the print category with his story titled “Dying in Instalment: How Lead Battery Recyclers are Poisoning Nigerians.”

Each of the winners got a voucher worth of 50,000 to shop from Vitafoam Comfort Center and a 200,000 cheque from Vitafoam Nigeria Plc.

Kareem Waris Olamilekan Wins 22nd Chou Ta-Kuan Cultural And Educational Foundation Award

Kareem Waris Olamilekan has won Taiwan’s Chou Ta-Kuan Cultural and Educational Foundation’s ‘Fervent Global Love of Lives Award’.

The 11-year-old Nigerian artist beat 2,723 nominees in the world in the twenty-second edition of the prize.

The Representative of Taiwan in Nigeria, Ambassador Vincent Yang, disclosed  this in Lagos on the 18th of September 2019. He also said that Kareem Waris Olamilekan would meet the Taiwanese President, Tsai Ing-wen, among other laureates.
