Ayokunle Samuel Betiku Wins 9th Eriata Oribhabor Poetry Prize

Ayokunle Samuel Betiku has emerged overall winner of the 9th Eriata Oribhabor Poetry Prize (EOPP 2020) with his poem ‘Beyond the Veil of Walls’.

The second-placed poem is ‘Searching through the Heavens’ by Osho Tunde while Yvonne Nezianya’s ‘Deathless Eyes’ emerged third place.

Ayokunle Samuel Betiku receives a cash prize of ₦50,000 while runners-up Osho and Nezianya receives a cash prize of ₦30,000 and ₦20,000 respectively.

Soyombo ‘Fisayo Emerges Second-Place Winner Of Fetisov Journalism Award [2020]

Soyombo ‘Fisayo has emerged second-place winner of the 2020 Fetisov Journalism Award in the outstanding investigative reporting category.

Soyombo ‘Fisayo, who recently founded the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ), was announced winner on the 10th of February 2021.

His undercover investigation on Nigeria’s criminal justice system is among the 12 winning entries announced. A total of 283 works were entered from across 77 countries under four categories.

David Hundeyin Wins 2020 People Journalism Prize for Africa (PJPA) Award

David Hundeyin has emerged winner of the People Journalism Prize for Africa along with Hopewell Chin’ono of Zimbabwe on 11th February 2021.

Currently on self-exile, David Hundeyin was selected for his Investigative Piece that exposed the draconian regulations and pointed out potential human rights violations in the proposed Infectious Diseases Bill that was in consideration by Nigeria’s House of Representatives during the coronavirus (COVID-19) lock down.

Oladeinde Olawoyin Wins 2020 Atupa Media Fellowship On Financial Journalism Award

Oladeinde Olawoyin, a Premium Times’ journalist has emerged the overall winner of the 2020 Atupa Media Fellowship on financial journalism award.

Mr. Olawoyin emerged winner in a pool of 25 financial journalists from print, broadcast, and digital platforms selected for the fellowship across Nigeria.

The award, which followed a four-month-long training programme for the 25 business and financial journalists, had over 70 entries from all the Fellows of the programme.

Merck Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Merck KGaA Germany announced the winners of ‘Merck Foundation More Than a Mother’ Africa Media Recognition Awards 2020.

Senator Dr. RashaKelej, CEO of Merck Foundation, President ‘Merck More Than a Mother and African Woman of the Year 2020 celebrated the winners saying:

Winners Of Merck Foundation “Stay at Home” Media Awards 2020

The Merck Foundation has announced the winners of the “Stay at Home” Media Recognition Awards 2020 for Ghana and for Nigeria.

The theme of the awards was ‘Raising Awareness on how to Stay Safe and Keep Physically and Mentally Healthy during Coronavirus Lockdown’ with the aim to separate facts from myths and misconceptions.

Dr. Rasha Kelej, CEO of Merck Foundation stated:

“I am very proud of our winners from Ghana and Nigeria who helped to educate the communities about Covid-19 through their exceptional work by frequently covering this topic in their respective countries. I have always believed that Media can play a very important role in sensitizing people about sensitive issues such as Coronavirus global pandemic. Big congratulations to all the winners.
