Eleven Nigerians Selected Into African #YouTubeBlackVoices Creator Class Of 2022

Eleven (11) Nigerians have been selected into the African #YouTubeBlackVoices Creator Class of 2022.

YouTube is announcing that 26 talented African creators will join the global Black Voices Creator Class of 2022. They are selected as part of 133 creators from around the world and across various niches. Including 40 from US and Canada, 35 from Brazil, and 34 from the United Kingdom. They will receive access to resources such as partner support and seed funding to help them grow on YouTube.

The 26 African YouTube creators and grantees come from Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa.

Michael Ogbochukwu Wins WeNaija Photography Competition [2022]

Michael Ogbochukwu has emerged overall winner of the WeNaija Photography Competition [2022] organised by the Nigeria Solidarity Support Fund (NSSF).

The WeNaija Photography Competition tagged: Visions of Nigeria, which came to an end with the exhibition held at the Coronation Gallery, Victoria Island, Lagos, saw Michael Ogbochukwu, taking the top position and was rewarded with ₦500,000 for his photo titled: The Abnormal Normal; Joshua Iragbie for his photo titled: Nigeria In COVID-19 and Onoseizame Dele-Damisa (Isolated), came 2nd and third, and received ₦300,000 and ₦200,000 respectively.

Taiwo Adebulu Named TheCable Journalist Of The Year 2021

Taiwo Adebulu has been named TheCable Journalist of the Year 2021 and receives a cash prize of 250,000.

The award recognises journalists within the ranks of TheCable “who have demonstrated industry, resilience and self-motivation as well as having produced impact stories during the year”.

He is the head of Fact Check Desk at TheCable and is a corps member of the America-based Report for the World (RFW), an initiative from The GroundTruth Project which supports “ground up” journalism to serve under-covered corners of the world.

Ekemini Simon & Abasifreke Effiong Win Inaugural Ray Ekpu Investigative Journalism Prize In Akwa Ibom State

An investigative report by Ekemini Simon and Abasifreke Effiong has won the maiden edition of Ray Ekpu Investigative Journalism Prize in Akwa Ibom state.

The investigative journalism prize winner commissioned by the International Centre for Investigative Reporting (ICIR) was announced at Dinner and Award Night of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Akwa Ibom State Council, held on December 10, 2021 in Uyo.

The award instituted by Inoyo Toro Foundation, a non-profit organisation working to promote quality education and boost capacity of Journalists in Akwa Ibom State, is designed to honour Ray Ekpu, a founding member of the renowned Newswatch magazine who hails from Akwa Ibom state.

Winners Of 2021 Diamond Awards For Media Excellence (DAME)

Winners have emerged at the 2021 Diamond Awards for Media Excellence (DAME), which held at the Shell Hall, Muson Centre, Lagos.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Mr. Lanre Idowu, editor-in-chief of Media Review, the organisers of the award said 24 categories were advertised in the award but that only 13 categories had worthy entries.

He said DAME did not find entries for 11 categories that were worthy of its awards and that the organisation has resolved to put in place a programme to improve quality of entries in the coming year.

He said journalists are very important people in the society and that they deserve to be rewarded for the good work that they do.
