My Essay: How Great Is Nigeria! 2017 OLC

Olawale Lekan ChristopherI am a graduate of English Language from the University of Ilorin. While I am politically non-partisan, I am nonetheless a patriot; I love and believe in Nigeria. So, as soon as I saw the title of this year essay contest (How Great is Nigeria!), I knew it was a perfect chance for me to consummate my passion for writing with my love for my country.

My hobbies are reading and writing. I believe in hard work, karma, love and God.  My greatest aspiration, as trivial as it may seem, is to be a Gentleman: well-bred, well-cultured, learned and rational.

                     Udeme Akpan

“Nigeria’s greatness is beautifully reflected from the dark shadows of the past, gently radiates through the battles of the present and shines for the hope of the future.”

PositiveNaija Monthly Newsletter August 2017

PositiveNaija Monthly Newsletter August 2017*It is important to mention that most achievements by Nigeria/Nigerians achieved abroad should not be relegated as being ‘superior’ or achieved out of a ‘privileged comfortable environment’ as most of these achievements are usually first in recognition of what has been done or attained within Nigeria and as such requiring an international/global export.

PositiveNaija Monthly Newsletter August 2017

Recommendations:

  1. Nigerians should be more observant towards the progress, development and excellence made in/by the country and fellow citizens.
  2. The right conditions for the vivid manifestations of these achievements and subsequent potentials are needed.
  3. Existing implementation frameworks should be critically reviewed with an indigenous approach.
  4. Strategic planning and an effective monitoring system with a focus on sustainability.
  5. Better coordination among Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs)

We hope that you find these assessments useful, inspiring and educative. We will also be glad to hear from you!

PositiveNaija Monthly Newsletter May 2017

In May [2017] we reviewed and improved certain features about our work since January 2017 including better categorisations of all posts, branding as well as better communication of results.

Notably, in terms of communication of results, we sought out to deduce where by  geographic locations (within Nigeria or abroad), the positive/success news/updates recorded are being achieved. In other words, our aim is to be able to tell by the results, how conducive the environments are to what Nigeria/Nigerians are achieving. To do this, we determined the locations on the basis of where exactly the achievement, progress, success, etc. was done or achieved as well as will be done or achieved and not based on where an award/recognition was or is presented.

We hope that you find these assessments useful, inspiring and educative. We will also be glad to hear from you!
