Canterbury International School Wins Inaugural SON Innovation Competition

Canterbury International School, Ajah, has emerged the overall champion in the maiden edition of Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) innovation competition to commemorate the World Standards Day.

The SON Innovation Competition, in partnership with Dansol High School, celebrates outstanding secondary students for their unique innovations, and creates an avenue for students to come out with unique digital innovations that would provide long-lasting solutions to socio-economic issues in Nigeria.

Kings College, Ikoyi emerged in the fourth and third positions behind Grange School, Ikeja that emerged second. Canterbury International School, Ajah, which emerged champion was rewarded with 100,000 cash prize, and a LED Television.

Other participants also received consolation prizes and were given plaques and certificates of recognition.

About 12 entries from seven schools were received for the competition, which were a mixture of written and practical presentation of works. After rigorous assessment by the jury, four winners emerged.

In her opening remarks, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Idiat Adebule, represented by Olatunde Isaac advised:

“Any student that cannot think critically now will not be able to innovate. You have to standout and do things differently from others to become great people in future.”
