Babatunde Bale, has won the 2024 YouthGive contest, which celebrates the power of generosity and impact among young Africans.
YouthGive Africa, an initiative of GivingTuesday Africa, announced the three winners from over 500 submissions.
Babatunde Bale from Nigeria emerged as the winner for his Vision Without Borders project, which provided sight-restoring solutions to over 400 residents in Makoko, Lagos. He received a cash prize of $1,500.
Laizer from Tanzania was the first runner-up for her work empowering Maasai girls and promoting conservation through the Enduata Community Initiative Organisation. She received a cash prize of $1,000.
Savio from Uganda was the second runner-up for his dedication to youth empowerment and social learning through the Youth Volunteer Corps, Uganda Chapter. He received a cash prize of $500.
Bidemi Adedire, the communications manager and point lead for the contest, said:
“These young leaders represent the best of Africa’s spirit of generosity, courage, and resilience.
Their stories prove that even small actions can lead to big changes.
Our goal is to not only celebrate their achievements but to ensure these stories inspire others and redefine what giving looks like in Africa today.”
The YouthGive Contest is part of the broader Giving Tuesday Africa movement, which aims to amplify African practices and traditions, inspire collective action, and celebrate generosity in all its forms.
