Winners Of Forbes Best Of Africa Awards 2018

Forbes Africa has rated Nigeria as the 2018 best economy in Africa and Benedict Peters, awarded Africa’s Oil and Gas Leader of the Year at the Forbes Best of Africa Gala, which held at Forbes Headquarters, New York City.

According to Forbes, Nigeria came top with $172 billion, which was followed by South Africa with $166.735 billion. Also on the list was Egypt as third with $78 billion, Algeria with $66 billion, Libya with $65 billion, Botswana with $22.675 billion, Ghana with $20.458 billion, Morocco with $18 billion, Ivory Coast with $11 billion and Madagascar with $6.766 billion.

Winners Of NB Golden Pen Awards 2018

Winners have emerged at the 10th Nigerian Breweries, NB Golden Pen Awards 2018 held in Lagos to promote and reward professionalism and objective reportage of events in Nigeria.

Overall, there were 243 entries and 235 entrants for the Golden Pen Reporter of the Year Award and 47 entries from 43 entrants in the NB Photo journalists of the Year Award.

According to the judges, the finalists in the Golden Pen Reporter of the Year Award scored at least 70 percent.

Chikezie Omeje Wins 2018 African Fact-Checking Award

Chikezie Omeje emerge overall winner of the 2018 African Fact-Checking Award with a $2,000 cash prize at a ceremony held in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Chikezie Omeje of the International Center for Investigative Reporting (ICIR) won the 2018 African Fact-Checking Award for a piece that checked if Nigeria recorded a drastic reduction in pre-school enrolment.

Winners Of 2018 PwC Media Excellence Awards

Winners have emerged at the 2018 PwC Media Excellence Awards.

The PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Media Excellence Awards celebrates and rewards excellence in business reporting in Nigeria. The competition is open to professional journalists on a full time employment or freelancers, working in Nigeria, who have produced a story that falls within the categories covered by the award and that is available on a platform whose primary audience is Nigeria.

The journalists selected in each category by the panel of judges are named the Journalist of the year in that category and receive a cash prize of 500,000 Naira.

Peter Ngene, Soji Cole & Isidore Diala Win Nigeria LNG 2018 Nigeria Prizes

Peter Ngene, Soji Cole and Professor Isidore Diala have emerged winners of the 2018 Nigeria Prize for Science, Literature and Literary Criticism respectively sponsored by Nigeria LNG Limited.

A cash prize of $100,000 each was given in the prize for Science and Literature respectively while one million Naira was given for Literary criticism award.

The winners were announced by Ayo Banjo, Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Nigeria Prize for Science and Literature, in Lagos.
