Follow The Money Wins United Nations SDG Mobiliser Of The Year Award 2019

Follow The Money, an initiative of Connected Development (CODE), has won the United Nations (UN) mobiliser of the year award at the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Global Fest for 2019.

Hamzat Lawal, the co-founder of CODE, received the award in Bonn, Germany on the 2nd of May, 2019.

The mobiliser of the year award is given to “the project/team that demonstrates the greatest successes with mobilizing individuals organizations or networks for collective action for the SDGs”.

Emmanuel Gabriel Develops OBTranslate As ML/AI Assistance For Translating Over 2,000 African Languages

41-year-old Emmanuel Gabriel, has developed OBTranslate – a global Machine learning (ML) / Artificial Intelligence (AI) assistance platform for over 2,000 African language translation.

According to the German-based Emmanuel Gabriel, being the first globally, OBTranslate is an online Common Admission Tool (CAT) for machine learning, AI platforms and neural network systems for over 2,000 African languages. He explained that the drive to expand the Nigerian, African ICT market, create jobs and help improve lives of people motivated him to come up with the innovation.

Abiola Orimolade Sets New Record Emerging Most Outstanding MBA Student At USA’s Sul Ross State University [2019]

Abiola Orimolade has emerged the most outstanding Master of Business Administration (MBA) student [2019] at Sul Ross State University in the United States of America.

Abiola Orimolade, a graduate of the Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Osun State, was recognised during the honours convocation with a 4.0 GPA, setting a whole new record as an international student in the university.

Nigeria Customs Service Female Team Wins Zone 3 Africa Volleyball Club Championships 2019

Ghana Police male team and Nigeria Customs Service female team has emerged champions of the Zone 3 Africa Volleyball Club championships held at the indoor hall of the University of Lagos, Nigeria.

Ghana Police beat Nigeria Customs Service 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-17) in the male final match for the second consecutive time since the revival of the Zone 3 Africa Volleyball Club Championships.

in the third place match, Nigeria Police defeated Nigeria Immigration 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 27-25).

Jeremiah Adedoyin, a final year student of Department of Mathematics, University of Lagos, has emerged the overall winner of the 2019 National Mathematics Competition.

Jeremiah Adedoyin, who is also President of his Department stated:

“I thank God for my victory, I didn’t know I will be the winner of this contest. But I just set up my mind that I’m going for gold and nothing less.”

Chukwuebuka Enekwechi Sets New National Shot Put Record At 2019 IAAF Hammer Throw Challenge

Chukwuebuka Enekwechi has set a new shot put national record during the 2019 IAAF Hammer Throw Challenge held at the Estádio do Centro Nacional de Desenvolvimento do Atletismo, São Paulo, Brazil.

Chukwuebuka Enekwechi, a 2018 Commonwealth silver medal winner, produced a throw of 21.77 meters to clinch gold at the 35th Grande Prêmio Brasil Caixa de Atletismo to beat the previous national record of 21.76 meters set by Stephen Mozia at the Grand Prix in Czech Republic three years ago.

Enekwechi is now the second in Africa’s shot put all time record behind South Africa’s Janus Robberts 2001 throw of 21.97 meters.

Sylvester Emeka Igboun Emerge Ufa’s All-time Leading Goalscorer [2019]

Sylvester Emeka Igboun, a striker and attacking midfielder for the Russian Premier League club FC Ufa has become the club’s all-time leading goalscorer with 24 goals in official games.

The former FC Midtjylland attacker attained this following his brace over the weekend in their 4-1 win over Ural in a league game.

According to Sylvester Emeka Igboun:

“I feel so good about this achievement. It is not easy.

My target as always been to score as many goals as I can, and do better than past seasons. I am delighted to have been able to achieve that and setting a record as Ufa’s all-time top goals scorer.”

On 13 July 2015, Igboun signed for Russian Premier League side FC Ufa. He made his international debut for Nigeria in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualification game against Tanzania on 5 September 2015, replacing Moses Simon as a substitute in the 69th minute.
