Peter Genger Wins 2019 Nahlah Ayed Prize For Student Leadership And Global Citizenship

Peter Genger, a student of the Arthur V. Mauro Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies, St. Paul’s College, University of Manitoba, Canada, has emerged winner of the 2019 Nahlah Ayed Prize for Student Leadership and Global Citizenship.

According to Peter Genger:

“I never thought that my little pieces of leadership service would gain a rewarding recognition as noble as the Nahlah Ayed Prize for Student Leadership and Global Citizenship. I sincerely appreciate the award.

This award has made me realize that there is no service that is too little or too much to give. The most important thing is for one to keep serving with sincere concern for humanity. After all, there is joy in true leadership and service.”

Ekele Franklin Emerges Overall Best Candidate In The 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)

Ekele Franklin has emerged the overall best candidate in the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), conducted between April 11 and April 15, 2019

15-year-old Ekele Franklin made University of Lagos (UNILAG) his first choice and scored 347.

Emmanuel Chidebube, a 16-year-old boy from Abia came second with a score of 346, while Isaac Olamide, a 17-year-old from Osun came third with 345.

In all 2,906 candidates scored over 300 as against 4,683 in 2018.

Gazali Tanimu has a first class in Chemical Engineering, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria in 2012.

He also possesses a distinction and emerged the overall best student in M.Sc Program at King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals, Saudi Arabia.

Habiba Muhammed and Yamusa Bello, have emerged the best students from their individual Departments as the couple obtained their PhDs on the same day at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.

Habiba Muhammed did her PhD in Geoinformatics, while Yamusa Bello did his in Civil Engineering. The husband (Yamusa Bello) also received the overall Chancellor’s award during their graduation on April 29, 2019.

The Emir of Kano, His Royal Highness, Muhammadu Sanusi II has been appointed by the United Nations (UN), as a member of the new class of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Advocates.

UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres made the announcement through his spokesman, Farhan Haq, at a news conference in New York on the 9th of May, 2019.

The SDGs Advocates are 17 influential public figures committed to “raising awareness, inspiring greater ambition, and pushing for faster action on the SDGs”.

Dr. Maxwell AzukaMeju Wins 2019 Reginald Fessenden Award

Dr. Maxwell AzukaMeju, has been selected by the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) headquartered in Tulsa, USA, for the 2019 Reginald Fessenden Award, one of the highest prizes in exploration geophysics.

A notification by the SEG 2018/2019 President, Robert Stewart, said the award was in recognition of the development of the current cross-gradient joint-inversion method, an invention now widely used in academia and various industries.
