Annabelle Fasuba Wins 100 Meters Of 2024 English Schools Track & Field Championships At Birmingham Alexander Stadium

Annabelle Fasuba has clocked 12.03 seconds to win the junior girls 100 meters of the 2024 English Schools Track and Field Championships at Birmingham Alexander Stadium.

Annabelle Fasuba is the daughter of former Nigerian sprint sensation Olusoju Fasuba.

The 13-year-old made a slow start but caught up and outran the rest of the field to breast the tape, setting a new personal best and club record.

It was the third time Annabelle broke her own club record for the 100 meters, solidifying her position as the record holder. She is now the champion in the English School Track & Field Championships, making her a proud recipient of the legendary Dina Asha Smith’s award.

In May, Annabelle Fasuba smashed a 40-year-old club record at the Devon Open Series meeting at Brickfields, clocking a stunning time of 24.39 seconds to win the under-15 girls’ 200 meters.

That broke Linda Wilson’s club record of 25.0 seconds, which had stood since 1984.

The time was also faster than Great Britain international Katherine Endacott’s under-17 and under-20 club records, and it also moved the youngster up to 15th on the UK all-time list for her age group, ahead of the likes of Dina Asher-Smith and Donna Fraser.

Fasuba had already broken the City of Plymouth’s 100-metre under-15 record earlier that month with a 12.09 seconds run at Exeter. She also broke two records at the Devon County Championships and a South West League record in just her first two months of racing.

Her dad was the 2008 World Indoor 60 meters champion and won Olympic. He also held the African 100-metre record for many years.
