Follow The Money Wins United Nations SDG Mobiliser Of The Year Award 2019

Follow The Money, an initiative of Connected Development (CODE), has won the United Nations (UN) mobiliser of the year award at the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Global Fest for 2019.

Hamzat Lawal, the co-founder of CODE, received the award in Bonn, Germany on the 2nd of May, 2019.

The mobiliser of the year award is given to “the project/team that demonstrates the greatest successes with mobilizing individuals organizations or networks for collective action for the SDGs”.

The UN says the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Action Awards:

“… recognize individuals, civil society organizations, subnational governments, foundations, networks, and private sector leaders who are advancing the global movement for the Sustainable Development Goals in the most transformative, impactful and innovative way”.

Entries were received from more than 2,000 organisations from 142 countries, out of which three finalists were selected and invited to Bonn.

This was done for each of the seven categories: mobilizer, storyteller, campaigner, connector, visualizer, includer and creative.

After receiving the award, Hamzat Lawal said:

“Follow The Money, from Nigeria 🇳🇬 to the World. Our #SDGAwards🥇 is dedicated to all the rural grassroots communities across Africa and my very dedicated Team, partners and supporters from around the world.

We can achieve #SDGs with you.”

Follow The Money advocates, visualizes and tracks government spending and international aid, and informs on how effective it has been on the Nigerian rural communities.
