The Flying Eagles of Nigeria has emerged winner of the 2023 Under-20 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) Fair Play Award at the 23rd edition of the tournament in Egypt.
The CAF Technical Study Group (TSG) of the tournament named the Flying Eagles for the award after the conclusion of the tournament for their professionalism, dedication, passion and discipline in the 2023 Under-20 Africa tournament.
They were awarded the prize after the final between Senegal and Gambia at the Cairo International Stadium on March 11, 2023.
Ladan Bosso’s men won the third place play-off match against Tunisia on Friday in Cairo. The WAFU-B champions beat the Young Carthage Eagles 4-0 to win bronze.
The Flying Eagles recovered from their semi-final defeat against The Gambia to defeat Tunisia in the Egyptian capital.
Nigeria will be one of four teams representing Africa at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Indonesia later this year.
