Team Nigeria has emerged champions of the 2024 WAFU Zone B Under-20 Championship after defeating Ghana by 2-1 at the Stade de Kégué.
The Nigerians started the game on a good note and made some early incursions having had their first goal attempt on goal in just four minutes but was checked by goalkeeper Benjamin Twum.
The Flying Eagles finally opened the scoring account in the 33rd minute through Kparobo Arierhi who controlled in the box and struck into the bottom right corner of the goalpost.
Ten minutes later, Kparobo pounced on a lose clearance from the Ghana backline and struck into the top corner to double the lead as it finished 2-0 at half time for Nigeria.
In the second half, the Black Satellites returned on a blistering note and nearly pulled one back through Denis Ameyaw but his effort was finally checked by the Nigeria backline.
Jerry Afriyie scored subsequently to pull one back for the Satellites and to grab his fifth of the tournament.
Nigeria won 2-0 after full time to emerge champions of the 2024 WAFU Zone B Under-20 Championship and have now qualified alongside runners up Ghana to the next Africa Under-20 Cup of Nations.
