2024 FIFA Under-17 Women World Cup: Nigeria’s Flamingos Win Fair Play Award

The Nigeria Under-17 Women’s team, the Flamingos, have won the Fair Play Award at the 2024 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic.

Despite their quarter-final exit, following a 2-0 defeat to the USA, the Flamingos were impressive with their disciplined and sportsmanship behaviour throughout the tournament.

Their clean record and positive attitude deservedly earned them some consolation – winners of the Fair Play Award.

Nigeria’s Shakirat Moshood and Spain’s Celia Segura were tied for the Bronze Boot award having scored four goals each, but Segura won narrowly due to her two assists.

Korea DPR’s winger won the Adidas Golden Ball, Spain’s Pau Comendador and Celia Segura earned individual honours, and Evan O’Steen received the Adidas Golden Glove.

Jon Il-chong of Korea DPR was named the Adidas Golden Ball winner at the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic.

The dynamic winger outperformed Spanish forwards, with Pau Comendador receiving the Adidas Silver Ball and Celia Segura taking the Bronze Ball.
