16 days Activism: CEPASD Takes Campaign Against Gender-Based Violence to AMAC, Bwari and Kuje Community

As part of the United Nations’ 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, the Center for Peace Advocacy and Sustainable Development (CEPASD) has taken its campaign to AMAC, Bwari and Kuje community.

The campaign, which aims to raise awareness and promote collective action against gender-based violence, was well-received by the communities.

The Executive Director CEPASD emphasized the need collective action and continuous community engagement, awareness and sensitization in curbing the rising trend of gender-based violence, stating:

“We must all speak out and take action against Gender-Based Violence.”

Community members, both young and old, pledged their commitment to take action, speak out and report cases of gender-based violence in their communities.

The representatives of the Esu Bwari Dr. Pius Yilda and JH Ijawoyi stated that the palace and community is committed in addressing issues of Gender-Based Violence in Bwari, emphasizing that gender-based violence can be prevented through awareness and sensitization as such what CEPASD is doing today.

He urged both men and women not get involved in any form of gender-based violence

The representative of the Kuje First Lady of Kuje, Hussain stated the office of the First Lady of Kuje is committed to ending violence against women, she also, emphasised she is committed in supporting women to speak out and report cases of Gender-Based Violence

Also, the representative of Hakimi of Karomajigi community welcome CEPASD team to community and stated the importance of such community engagement in addressing gender-based violence while pledging the community community in addressing gender-based violence

CEPASD’s Executive Director Augustine Igweshi also, expressed satisfaction with the campaign’s impact and charged everyone to take action and speak out against gender-based violence.

He also, appreciated the government of Ireland through the Embassy of Ireland Nigeria for their support for the project.

The 16 days Activism against Gender Based Violence campaign will end with a road walk and market awareness and sensitization in Bwari Area Council
